:O! You can broil Yaki Onigiri?! I never even thought of that! I usually pan fry it, but I don't like it when I refrigerate it, it's so much better fresh :)

Do you put oil on top or leave it as is?

Oh heck yea. That's how I learned how to make it.
I don't like it refrigerated either. I prefer it fresh too.

I make the onigiri shape, put it on foil and broil it till it it's golden brown, flip and repeat. Then I baste it with shoyu or miso (my favorite) and do the same, until it's nicely done but not burnt.

I made all of it the night before, but I put some of it together that morning. The whole bottom tier was made and stored in the refrigerator. I don't shell or cut eggs until the morning of though. I made the non broiled onigiri that morning since I don't like my rice refrigerated because it makes it hard. It just depends on what will hold up and what will take a long time to make really.

the normal onigiri. Yaki onigiri is broiled or grilled.

I didn't even eat it all. I ended up throwing out part of the onigiri. I had an grapple besides this a bit earlier in class, but still. Over the years I've gone down in mL bento wise. By almost 100. I do bring snacks like fruit, or cheese and crackers, but I usually eat them over a long day. Like a morning snack and lunch. Of course my stress level causes me to become so unsettled that eating isn't as good as it used to be for me. I don't really look forward to lunch anymore no matter how appetizing it is. It used to be a great pleasure, but when classes started back up eating became a chore almost. Once I get out of the environment I can eat again, but I wouldn't exactly call it normal. I do not want a stressful life, my body shuts down.

Yaki onigiri is best when it's hot out of the oven.
