Noodle and Dumpling Bento by Demi-Plum Noodle and Dumpling Bento by Demi-Plum
I made this bento for lunch today. I need a full lunch on TH because I'm there both days from 9 to 5. I get a two hour lunch break, I usually do homework during it though to help catch me up. Anyway this bento contains:

Top Layer:
Apple Jelly
Shumai "Hamburgers" - From Biggie's Blog
Ranch Dipping Cup
Somen Tsuyo Bottle
Soba Noodles

Bottom Layer:
Somen Tsuyo Bottle
Diced Strawberry
Tomato and Gouda with Med Spices "sandwich" on toothpicks
Carrot and Cucumber Match Sticks
Little Spoon

Please Enjoy~!

do you think a world market will carry them? because I live in a really small town and the closest thing to something like that is a world market in the city over.

It's possible. I don't recall world market carrying them, but then again I only got to go a few times before they closed down. It's at least worth a try looking. If not I'm sure you can find them on the internet somewhere.

If you can't find them I suggest you do a trade with someone who can buy them easily.

Looks tasty. But it looks so tiny aswell. Is it really enough to keep you going all day? I'd be starving still. xD

It does keep me full actually. Most people think bento look small, but they hold a lot more than you'd think. They measure in mL, if you research which bento box is the right size for you then it should be good

Hm, you're probably right. Just looks like a appetizer with one bite sizes of everything.

I don't usually eat appetizers because I won't be able to eat dinner. I do have a fairly small stomach, and it did shrink a bit when I first started bento making, but then again I do eat about 100 mL less than what is recommended for my age and height. It just depends on what you want.

That's true. And one shouldn't focus too much on numbers either, since we're all different and have different needs. If it's enough for you and you feel good, then it probably is good. ^^

Yes that is also correct. When I first bought my bento I didn't understand sizes or mL so I just bought a nice basic bento package. After getting it and seeing how small it was I was worried, but it ended up being enough. I did shrink some in stomach size, so that the bento was enough to keep me going. My eating schedule isn't exactly steady and even though, I go from class to class and sometimes I put off eating for work. But bento has always been good for me.

I remember having a bad habit of putting off dinner at work some days. Ususally because I didn't have a fixed lunchbreak, which would probably have been better, than squeezing in lunch between customers/deliveries. Sometimes I would get hungry early, if there was a slow day. Other days I was busy with work and realized in the late afternoon that I had forgotten my lunchbreak and then I would prefer to skip out on it, rather than having a late break two hours before the end of my workingday.

Yes I know it isn't healthy, but I can't really help it. I do have a two hour lunch break two days a week at noon, but the rest of the week is not happening. I slip snacks in during classes to keep me going, but real lunch isn't going to happen. It's sad, but a reality. I just eat when I'm hungry, or get a change =.='

I use flexible plastic silicone containers. You can buy them off of ebay, Jlist, and I beleive etsy as well. They're usually around $5 depending on what you're getting. Make sure you use a ruler to measure out the sizes so you know what you're buying. I've gotten cups that I thought would be larger, but after getting a few different sets they're great for little things.

Don't get excited over the first ones you see also. Check out the different sites because you might find something you like better on another site. Make sure that your decision is informed and you'll be fine

It's not as hard as you'd think. First cook using recipes, after you get used to the ingredients you're working with you can switch things up, add or subtract things. It just takes practice.

Looks good! My wife would love the little bottles.

So, do guys ever use these things? I've noticed obento boxes listed on the outdoor menu at the local (wasabi) Japanese place.

Haha they are really good. You can also get ones that dispense the sauce too! I want some of those, but they're not a necessity so only when I get play money.

Oh yes, they make bento boxes specially for men. They arn't "cute" they're nicely made and large enough for a male's meal. You can check out Jlist if you're interested in seeing them.
Most restaurant style bento are actually closer to traditional bento in shape. They have some nice food in them though.
